Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company (SCTC) provides enhanced telecommunications, long distance, broadband services and video in the Stayton/Sublimity area of the Santiam Canyon. SCTC has grown from 1,060 members in 1955 to 4,890 members today.
In 1997 we expanded our business by acquiring People's Telephone Co. in Lyons, Oregon. Today, the company looks to invest in the future by exploring new technologies such as wireless broadband, Fiber to the Home, and enhanced video services.
Cooperatives are a unique form of doing business in which the customers are owners and share in the net margins of the company. The margins are distributed based on each member's respective patronage for the year. SCTC has paid out several million dollars in patronage dividends over the last five years. When our customers sign up for basic local telephone service they pay a one dollar membership fee and become "members." As members they have the right to vote in elections and to serve on the Board of Directors in accordance with our bylaws.
We are committed to providing our members and customers in the Santiam Canyon and surrounding areas:
Our Vision is to improve the quality of life and prosperity of our members and customers by providing communication services that are reliable, reasonably priced and tailored to meeting their needs.
In conducting our business, we pledge to communicate honestly and conduct our business with the highest standards of ethics, trust and integrity.
