Domain Hosting? That sounds like an Open House for real estate agents. The kind of web hosting we're talking about is a service that gives you a spot on our servers (that's fancy talk for a big computer) where your website and email are given access to the web. Since it’s a virtual server arrangement, you don't have to use your own valuable data storage and we make sure that your site is as safe and protected as it can be.
You get peace of mind and more hard drive space to hold all those pictures of grandkids or Facebook friends. Relax. It may not be as much fun as an Open House, but you don't have to listen to a sales pitch, either.
WVI's Virtual Server customers can enjoy the benefits that only come from knowing that their website is well maintained and secure. WVI equipment is housed in a climate controlled, alarm monitored building. Maintenance and system backups are performed on a regular basis. |

* Secure Site Certificate Hosting with our certificate or yours. The setup fee only allows your domain to utilize our wvi.com Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate or yours. This setup does not make your web site secure. To create a secure web page requires an "Advanced Technique". Make sure your web developer is qualified to create secure pages.
** CGI Library: All Accounts allow you to use our Hit Counter and Forms to E-Mail CGI's at no extra charge.
WVI connects to several of Oregon's first-tier providers - Cogent, with a full DS3 (at 45 megabits), Qwest with a DS3 (at 15 megabits), Sprint (at 3 megabits) and several others via T1. Support for UNIX Administration, UUCP, Firewalls, and Security is provided by SCN Research.
All routers are Cisco hardware running bgp, ospf, and other routing protocols to assure the fastest possible, redundant connections to the internet worldwide.
Virtual Server
A Virtual Server account allows a company or individual to house a domain (www.yourname.com) on one of WVI's servers. Also included is Web Page storage, multiple E-mail addresses (you@yourname.com), and many other features such as usage statistics, counters, and other useful tools.
Registering a Domain Name
The domain name is that part of the url that identifies you, e.g. the “wvi” in www.wvi.com or the “amazon” in www.amazon.com. Don't have a domain name for your web site yet? Get your domain name today before someone else takes it.
Not ready for a web site but you want to reserve your domain name before it's gone? Park your Domain at WVI and we'll hold the domain name for you for up to two years. Start by registering your domain name.
DNS Only Hosting
Maintaining your website and e-mail elsewhere and just need Domain Name Server hosting? WVI has two DNS servers for this purpose located in Salem and Stayton on separate IP subnets.
